OUR SEO STRATEGY

OUR SEO STRATEGY

As we delve into our annual planning for the upcoming year at AMG, it's evident that a recalibration of our SEO strategy is in order, driven by the transformative initiatives spearheaded by Google. The tech giant's recent updates, particularly in response to the rise of generative AI, demand a nuanced, people-first approach in 2024. Notably, Google's emphasis on elevating high-quality content through' innovations like the Search Generative Experience (SGE), Perspectives Filter, Helpful Content Update, and the October 2023 Core Update signals a significant shift in how users access information and engage with brand content.

At AMG, we recognize that this evolution doesn't necessitate a complete overhaul of our SEO strategy but rather a strategic reprioritization. Based on Google's recent maneuvers, we discern that domain authority and the creation of quality content are emerging as pivotal pillars around which to revamp our program's strategy.

The concept of Domain Authority, a metric gauging a website domain's ranking in search engine results pages, is not new. However, the path to achieving it has taken some new turns. Backlinks, once a major ranking factor, have diminished in significance, as confirmed by Google last month. This shift is attributed to advancements in technology, including machine learning and natural language processing, as well as increased engagement across social and forum channels. Consequently, Google is now considering a myriad of ranking signals beyond traditional backlinks.

In acknowledgment of these changes, AMG is attuned to the growing complexity of factors influencing ranking. Moz, the pioneer of Domain Authority, has introduced Brand Authority, a novel score measuring a domain's overall brand strength. While Domain Authority gauges the ability to rank on search engines, Brand Authority assesses influence across marketing channels. The interplay between modern Domain Authority and Brand Authority is intricately linked to the creation of high-quality content. At AMG, we understand that excellent content enhances Domain Authority, signaling to both users and search engines that our site is a reliable source of information.

To align our marketing communications strategies with both Domain and Brand Authority, we propose the following actions at AMG:

1. Amplify Thought Leadership: Elevate the significance of thought leaders within our organization to create authentic, experience-based content that resonates with Google's preferences.

2. Agility in Addressing Trends: Stay agile and responsive to emerging topics to gain a competitive edge in rankings, particularly against slower-moving competitors.

3.Website Cleanup: Regularly review and eliminate outdated or low-quality content to enhance Google's perception of our site and positively influence crawling and indexing.

4. Strategic Content Investment: Shift from mass content production to crafting fewer, higher-quality pieces. Treat each piece as a long-term investment, continually updating and redistributing them to remain relevant.

5. Audience Understanding: Deepen our understanding of our audience's needs and search intent to create content that aligns with their queries and delivers real value.

6. Diversify Digital Presence: Expand our brand and thought leaders' presence across various digital channels, especially on social platforms and discussion forums, signaling content quality to Google.

7. Explore Collaborations: Engage with external experts and influencers to diversify our content, reach new audiences, and amplify our brand's credibility.

At AMG, we embrace the paradigm shift towards a people-first SEO approach. The value of unique, insightful, and helpful content, especially in the age of AI-generated content, is on the rise. As we step into 2024, adopting a people-first approach means aligning our strategies with both Domain Authority and content quality. By doing so, we not only adhere to Google's evolving preferences but also forge more meaningful and enduring connections with our audience in the year ahead.
